Spot The Error! #1

For each number below, find the error and write the correction.

1. My father drink a cup of coffee every morning.
Correction:

The verb "drink" is incorrect. It should be "drinks" because the subject is "my father" or "he".

2. I met with lisa and Marco at a Japanese restaurant.
Correction:

The word "lisa" should be capitalized because it is a proper noun or proper name.

3. Yesterday Mr. Iglesias examined my torso for a hour.
Correction:

The article "a" is incorrect. It should be "an" because "hour" begins with a vowel sound; the letter "h" is not pronounced.

4. I has been working for this company since January last year.
Correction:

Instead of "has", we use "have" as an auxiliary or helping verb after the subject "I", .

5. Louis is go to his brother's apartment once a week.
Correction:

Use only one main verb for a simple sentence. In this case, "go" is the correct one. Don't forget to add "-es" because the subject is "Louis" or "he".

6. A water is liquid but a book is solid.
Correction:

Don't use "a" for a generic uncountable noun. Leave out the "a".

7. My twin loves reading books, I hate it.
Correction:

This is a run-on sentence. To connect two independent clauses (two complete sentences) we don't use a comma, as in the sentence. Instead, we use a period "." or a coordinating conjunction. The coordinating conjunction appropriate for this sentence is "but".

8. Leung and me think that my mother is a good cook. Her food is always delicious!
Correction:

"Me" is an object pronoun. We use "I" for the subject of a sentence.

9. Microsoft is one of biggest companies in the world.
Correction:

Don't forget to put "the" before "biggest", a superlative.

10. I have loved dinosaurs since I am a kid.
Correction:

The tense which should be used in the clause "since I am a kid" is the simple past tense. Change the "am" into "was".
